A smile is one of your greatest personal assets. We can now help you maintain
and improve your smile - more conveniently than ever before! A new technology
allows us to offer natural-looking, high-quality ceramic restorations, completed
and placed in a single office visit.
The breakthrough computer called CEREC 3 allows a dentist to quickly restore damaged teeth with
natural colored porcelain restorations in one visit, saving patients time and inconvenience.
CEREC 3 is a third generation computered CAD/CAM system and represents an acronym
for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.
Translated, it means that a dentist can economically restore damaged teeth in
a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural
color of your teeth. What does this innovation mean for a patient? A tooth-colored
restoration means no more silver fillings or discolored smiles. The filling is
natural looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive, plaque resistant,
and lasts as long as a crown.
CEREC 3 is the newest innovation in ceramic cosmetic dentistry. What once took weeks now
takes only hours. Previously, when an onlay, inlay or crown was performed, the patient would
have to endure many impressions and a two or three week waiting period.
Dentists no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab.
They program the computer to make the crown right in front of you. Because of this, the
traditional second visit has been eliminated.
Your damaged or broken tooth is prepared for the CEREC restoration which might be an
inlay, onlay, crown or veneer. An Optical Impression is taken by simply photographing the
tooth with a special computer camera. The restoration is then designed on the computer screen
while you watch. Once the design is done, the computer instructs the Milling portion of the
CEREC machine to form a solid block of color matched Ceramic/Porcelain to fit your tooth. The
finished restoration is ready to be bonded into your tooth to complete the repair just
10-20 minutes later!
Porcelain inlays and onlays can be an excellent restoration of a tooth that might
otherwise require a Crown for adequate strength. Frequently, large Mercury-Amalgam or "silver"
fillings can severely break down or fracture the tooth.
With Bonding technologies, the tooth can actually be stronger than the original tooth with an
inlay or onlay. The Sirona CEREC CAD/CAM device is a way of creating a laboratory quality restoration
in a single visit with no temporaries or impressions and no two week wait for lab work to return.
